In anticipation of the new Gloucestershire County Women’s League season, I caught up with GasCast sponsored player Jamie-Leigh Worlock.
Hi Jamie-Leigh. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 24 and play as a centre attacking midfielder but can also play in any other position. I’m a big Bristol Rovers fan but I also go to watch Bristol Manor Farm.
You came to the club from Almondsbury Town, what made you want to drop down a league?
I wasn’t sure whether to sign for the Gas Girls as it was a big step down but being a big Gashead had a big part as it’s always been my dream of playing for Bristol Rovers in the famous blue and white quarters! I also would like to play at the highest level and I think this club will be up near the top soon enough.
What has been your best moment playing for Rovers?
Again being a massive Gashead I would say my best moment would be when we did the lap around the Mem at half time at the Accrington Stanley game. Also walking out onto the pitch with my brother will be a moment I’ll never forget.
How have you developed your game whilst a Rovers player?
I think I’ve become a more confident player and more confident in myself.
What are your hopes for the new season?
I hope that we can win the league and get as far as we can in the cups. Also hope I can improve more as a player.
The Gas Girls kicked off the new season last Sunday with a 6-0 victory against Bristol & West Ladies in our first run in the Women’s FA Cup in 15 years. The journey continues on Sunday the 20th of September away at Chipping Sodbury Town so why not pop along and support the girls?
