Opposition view: Posh (A)

Before we look at the game, could you give us a memory from previous games against the Gas?

I’m not sure to be honest, we’ve had quite a few good games against Rovers in recent years. 2017 away springs to mind, Jack Marriot scored a hat-trick for us in a 4-1 win.

Steven Taylor also scored that day, we only had him for the one season, but he was sensational at the back and this game was a mark of things to come. Sorry this bring this one back up.

How has your season been going so far?

Up and Down in the beginning, fitness issues throughout the squad and inconsistent performances, had a few of people doubting the big expectations that Posh fans had before the season started.

Since December, things have looked much better, with performances showing the quality that this Peterborough team has.

And what would you say your ambitions are for the rest of the campaign?

Our current expectations are still the same as they were in September. We expect to be “up there” in the battle for promotion.

How is your form coming into the game?

Undefeated in the new year, with wins against Ipswich, Charlton and a draw away at Lincoln.

How do you think you’ll setup for our game?

3-4-2-1, I imagine we will look to force play wide in the early stages, using the pace of our Fullbacks, and then use that to open play in the middle for our Attacking Midfielders.

We control possession in most of our games and can be dangerous on the counter.

Any weak links in your side?

Personal weaknesses – If Joe Ward is out for this game then Right Wing Back could be a potential weakness, however we are hopeful that he’s fit for the game.

Tactical weaknesses – We’ve struggled all year against teams that take the game to us with high pressing. If teams are savvy and don’t give our midfielders the time on the ball that they need, then we can’t take control of the game effectively and revert to Route-one.

Who are your standout players?

Jonson Clarke-Harris – One that is familiar with Rovers fans, a fantastic player with 14 goals already this season.

Sammie Szmodics – Coming into this game in great form, having scored 4 goals in his last three.

Jack Taylor – Central Midfielder that controls the game for us every week. If you can bottle him up, you’ve won the game.

The pitch! Currently worse than your average Sunday league pitch.

Game prediction

Peterborough 3-0 Rovers

Posh are coming into this game on the back of three massive results for our season, we now have three games that on paper we should win, given form and table positions. I expect a similar game to the previous encounter between us this season, and our defence has been sensational in recent games.

Where do you think you’ll be come the end of the season?

Our best side up and down the pitch for a long time, quality in depth and play, with big results against most of the top teams already.

We have great home form and most of the bigger teams are still to come to us.
