How has your season been going so far?
It’s been very bad and then very good. We were having a terrible season for the first 13 games under Sam Ricketts and looked nailed on to be relegated.
He was eventually sacked (a few games too late) abs Steve Cotterill has come in and had the best ever start for a manager at the club in our history and now a couple of our fans have started looking up the table to the playoffs.
And that’s not to forget a serious COVId outbreak and missing out manager for most of the games he’s been here. It’s been memorable that’s for sure!!
And what would you say your ambitions are for the rest of the campaign?
Well the playoffs seems a ways off still but with three games in hand another good winning run now and it can’t 100% be discounted.
However the realistic aim looks to be beating our tradition finishing position (which most would have too at the start of the season) in league one of 17th and a a top 10 finish would be bloody excellent considering at one point we were worried about going down.
How is your form coming into the game?
On top of the best ever start for a Shrewsbury town manager we have only lost two in recent weeks and beat a lot of the teams at the top such including a great 4-2 over the leaves form team MK Dons on Tuesday.
We don’t concede many and ate very hard to beat with a midfield that’s very competitive for the division and a defence and keeper at the top of there game.
Harry Chapman has been the stand out player in this good run since he came in on loan and has absolutely ripped teams apart with his skills, running with the ball and finishing. A real gem. He’s been backed up well in midfield by Goss, Vela and Norburn who are playing well abs giving us a good defensive shield and getting forward well.
How do you think you’ll setup for our game?
We played the same team and formation pretty much most games now we have settled into good run.
It will be 433 unless there are more injury’s we don’t know about
Love Williams Ebanks-Lendell Ogbeta
Norburn Goss Vela
Whalley Main Chapman
I’m a fan of consistent team selection and it’s working well.
Any weak links in your side?
A perennial issue at the club to be honest and a lot of our wins have been coming by one goal margins. We have chopped and changed over the winter window and Curtis Main has come in and been a more effected target up front than what we had previous so we are better.. but he’s not a 20 goal a season man. He’s probably not a 10 goal a season man either.
The goals are coming from elsewhere which has helped but it’s an area we will certainly see major work on over he simmer
Who are your standout players?
I mentioned Chapman above who’s recent form has been exceptional.
Other than that have to give huge Credit to both center backs Williams abs Ebanks-Landell who have become hard to beat and our goals conceded record has improved imesurabley. They are strong in the air, good on the deck. Quick and powerful. Very good players at league one level.
Classic league one 1-1 though I’m confident if we score first we could see it out.
We have done that a lot recently. First goal in our games are usually vital.
Where do you think you’ll be come the end of the season?
Can see us being a little higher than we are now and falling short of playoffs. Somewhere between 10th and 13th
